I have created a fictional series of eight covers for encyclopedias for the Danish publishing house Gyldendal. As I told you earlier, I decided to explore the art of marbling – a technique that was invented back in the 1100’s, either in Turkey or Persia. There are several methods for making marbled papers, and it was very hard for me to crack the ‘marbling-code’ and to obtain a result that I was happy with. But after a large amount of experiments, I finally succeeded in making something resembling marblings. Blue oil paint seemed to be the answer, not yellow nor red – blue only! With a little help from my computer, the final result became black and white marbling and colored text. But if there’s an marbling expert out there somewhere, I would really appreciate some advice on the color issues for future marbling experiments!
